Community Connectors are people who volunteer to support a common goal of creating more caring and compassionate communities through social interactions and quality relationships. They come together to spread and imbed care and compassion in as many areas of our community as possible.

By volunteering as a Community Connector, we share information about the social activities that are happening in our community and help connect people to their preferred social activity and to each other.
A Community Connector attends and participates in social activities and is passionate about developing quality relationships that include listening, accepting, supporting, trusting, encouraging, and respecting self and others.

You can phone on email info@communityconnectingcommunity.com to register your interest in becoming a Connector. It is beneficial to participate in the online training before becoming a Community Connector – The program gives us a basic knowledge of our common and shared humanity. To find out more information, please email us with your enquiry.

With caring relationships we all become less lonely, less anxious, less depressed and become more open, more social, more connected, and healthier.
Many of us are already connecting with people in our community, but some of us need just a little extra encouragement and support to actively engage with activities.
The research shows that caring and connected communities help people transform their lives through social connection and caring relationships. What we do matters to someone!

We welcome people from all age groups and backgrounds, skills, non-professionals, professionals – anyone and everyone. It is our aim to bring everyone together with a sense of openness, equity, warmth, and lack of hierarchy into social activities that are either free or low-cost.

You do not need any specific skills – just an ability to communicate with a warm and caring heart, be keen to meet new people and have a genuine belief that we all matter! We can all help one another walk smoothly over this potentially rough road we call ‘life’.

It is important to remember that we are all doing our best most of the times, but sometimes life gets a little rough. We will learn skills and strategies to help us:
• Understand our Common Humanity – What drives our decisions and why we make our own particular choices in life?
• Creating connected relationships with self and others – How much of our joy and suffering involves our relationships with ourselves and others?
• Making effective and helpful choices for the wellbeing of ourselves and others – What happens when we don’t get what we want and need?
• Working together to create more connected communities – How can we work together and take more responsibility for our own well-being and support the wellbeing for the people of our community?

It is strongly recommended that all Community Connectors participate in the ‘Connect with Compassion’ online training. The workshop offers us skills and strategies to more effectively manage our own wellbeing and give us an understanding of our common humanity and an understanding of the struggles that we all face from time to time.

The training is free and involves 4 x 1hr sessions. These will be held consecutively over four weeks for one hour per week. The training schedule and availability will be available on the website. Training will be ongoing whilst ever we have members of community or connectors wanting to participate.

The training is online and via Zoom. It will run over four consecutive weeks. Please register and see training availability on the Community Connecting Community website.

Community Connectors come together to meet, discuss, share information and support one another while working together to create a more caring and connected community.

Community Connectors can meet anywhere, but generally it would be at a mutually agreed place like a favourite coffee shop or any place where people meet to interact socially.

There is no rigid schedule or set timetable. We aim to meet fortnightly, but the schedule may change as we gain more and more connectors and members of our community wanting to join us for social activities and events.

We will share as many community events as possible on this website. Community Connectors actively seek out and promote free and low-cost activities for social interaction. Events and activities will also be promoted through social media outlets – e.g. Facebook

There will be no requiremenst to form committees or attend formal meetings. We will attend meet and greet sessions to discuss and share information and offer support to one another. It is envisaged that our Community Connectors will benefit from the friendships and relationships formed.

The forming of Community Connecting Community and a plan for Community Connectors is an initiative of the Global Compassion Coalition in the hope that we can all work together to help create a more compassionate world – one small step at a time!

No the program is not funded. It is managed by a group of passionate people who support the idea of creating a more compassionate world – starting by working together in communities to create quality caring relationships – we need one another!
