Our community offers a multitude of fantastic events, activities, groups, services and facilities for social connection.
By volunteering as a Community Connector, we share information about the social activities that are happening in our community and help connect people to their preferred social activity and to each other.

Maureen Sansom

Accredited Workshop Facilitator (William Glasser International)

About Maureen

Maureen has five decades of experience working with people in administration, managing community-based organizations, and working in schools for students with behavioural and emotional disorders. With a focus on mental health and well-being, she has developed the 'Circles for C.H.O.I.C.E. while Taking Charge of Our Lives' workshop for presentation to her peers and community members.
She is a faculty member and an accredited workshop facilitator with William Glasser International and volunteers for the Global Compassion Coalition as the National Coordinator of Community Connectors Australia.
Maureen is passionate about personal healing through relationships based on compassion. Many people, including children and adults in the community who struggle with anxiety and related mental health issues face additional challenges while working in organizational systems based on competition, comparison, success and targets. Such systems can create further isolation, shame and anxiety and also inhibits the connection and compassion we all need.
The 'Circles for C.H.O.I.C.E.' workshop offers a way to create a system in the workplace and in the community that is based on care and connection - where relationships are valued and where we work together to help alleviate anxiety while also balancing all our needs.
Maureen has extensive experience relating to the challenges that face people living with compromised mental health in her private and professional life. She also has living experience in the role of caring for family and community members dealing with trauma.
Participants in the workshop are encouraged to reflect on their own experience within organizational and community structures and to identify opportunities for fostering greater empathy and mutual support. By drawing on practical strategies and evidence-based approaches, Maureen guides participants and connectors through interactive exercises that prioritize connection and collective well-being. The workshop environment itself becomes a living example of the principles discussed, promoting open dialogues, trust-building, and shared problem solving.
Ultimately, the 'Circles for C.H.O.I.C.E.' approach helps to empower individuals to become agents of positive change, not just of their own lives, but within their wider communities and workplaces. Through cultivating relationships rooted in understanding compassion, participants discover pathways to healing that transcend traditional models of success, nurturing resilience and hope for a more caring and inclusive future.

What drives our decisions?

Community Connectors are people who volunteer to support a common goal of creating more caring and compassionate communities through social interactions and quality relationships.
They come together to spread and imbed care and compassion in as many areas of our community as possible.

By volunteering as a Community Connector, we share information about the social activities that are happening in our community and help connect people to their preferred social activity and to each other.
A Community Connector attends and participates in social activities and is passionate about developing quality relationships that include listening, accepting, supporting, trusting, encouraging, and respecting self and others.

You can phone on email info@communityconnectingcommunity.com to register your interest in becoming a Connector. It is beneficial to participate in the online training before becoming a Community Connector – The program gives us a basic knowledge of our common and shared humanity.
